Can one use a dedicated shop vac to do this? My marina doesn't have this service available and my friend's daughter used the head when no one was looking...I never planned to use the head and was going to remove and cap it or duct tape the lid....you know the rest...

Is there any marina that has a pump out in your area? The air from the exhaust on shop vac will be pleasant.

Shop-vac not strong enough..I tried years ago..

A dyson is probably strong enuf....................................I'm kidding. What type system do you have? Some you can just take off the boat and empty and clean, like on my old 270 dancer. But if you have a dedicated holding tank,(not familiar with your boat) you may have the option of using the macerator on land into a bucket, or a sewer. Can you give us more info so we can respond?

The vacuflush pressurizes and pulls the waste down into a dedicated holding tank.

Boat is at my place at the lake/river. There is a private marina nearby but they don't have any real facilities to handle this, it is more of a series of lifts and docks at the state park. Is there a bypass to the system to allow for discharge instead of pumping it out?

Yes there is a way to discharge overboard, however it is only legal if you are a minimum of 3 miles offshore (basically international waters). That's not happening on a lake. Have you asked the marina operator if some company has a service that comes to your lake to pump out other boats ? There must be other boats on the lake with holding tanks.

For now, at least, you may want to add some deodorizer and a little water to your tank, so that what's in there doesn't ferment too badly.

Actually that depends - macerators are optional. Most boats around here don't even have them. I suspect that is the standard for boats destined for inland lakes.

I live in South Dakota and boating, while available in many areas, is still primitive and fairly what I can only describe as "on your own". Part of the trade off of having less than 800,000 people in the whole state! But thanks!
