Pump Motor Running

I was out on the water yesterday and noticed I think my trim motor kept coming on and off about every 10 min but the actual sterndrive isnt moving. I don't think my boat has automatic trim setup......there isn't a switch for auto/manual unless there is something for this in the engine compartment.
After a little research I am thinking it could possible be my fuel pump coming on and off.....If this is the case....What would be causing the issue? Possibly oil sensor of some sort?

Any idea or suggestions on how to fix this? I took my battery terminal off tonight because it was still coming on and off in my garage about every 10min for a few sec.

Any help would be great!

Is ur bilge pump running?

It is an auto pump that has a float in it that once it is lifted the pump will kick on..... Over time the float can get stuck, thus once the pump kicked on for whatever read on it couldn't shut off. If u can see the pump down in the bottom of the bilge. Try tapping on it with a broom handle and see if it shuts off. Basically just jarring it enough for the float to drop back down. Then charge ur batteries as that little guy can really drain them

My Bilge pump has saved my boat at least once for certain, so I value this little part.

I sugest have it replaced, no point risking a flat battery if the float is stuck on, or the pump not turning on if the float is stuck down.

I dont know if the float is exactly sticking. Because the bilge pump kicks on like every 5min and runs for 3-4sec then kicks off.
I would think if the float was sticking it would continuously run and stay on??

Sounds like you have a leak to me. The pump runs when it gets water in it.

No leak...dry as it can be in the rear/engine compartment! I think it has become a electrical issue. I guess I am just going to have to take it in to a mechanic to track down.

Yeah no fun but.... Hopefully just a bad switch in the pump and a new pump will solve ur problem. How about the no start issue? Dead battery?

I havn't had a chance to look at it today. We have been under tornado warnings all day here in Alabama. Plus I need a day to cool down and was hoping to get some ideas off here before I start digging tomorrow. I know for a fact the battery isn't dead because that bilge pump still kicks on in the garage. I am thinking the ignition fuse is blown or a fuse that im not familiar with. Please let me know if you have any direction, before I get after it tomorrow.

Fixed it! The power wire running to the starter broke off. The metal ring end had snapped off some how. Like when you bend metal back and forth it finally snaps. Crazy!! Always something new!! lol

Still need to figure out why the bilge pump runs off and on every 5min

I'm thinking that you have the bilge pump with internal mercury switch. The mercury switches tend to foul and really cant be cleaned, I have changed my switches to the "old" style float type (Rulematic) model.
