OK I’m putting Fox gateways on my engines which I successfully did, I pulled all the analog gauges and I taped off all the wiring for the gauges and secured it. I went ahead and installed the gateways and I go to start the engines it they just crank, no fire, both engines port and starboard. I also noted there is no ignition buzzer when you go to the on position on the ignition switches.

If I’m not mistaken, there is an ignition buzzer in the instrument wire harness, attached to each tachometer harness. I don’t know if disconnecting and removing the tachometers and other gauges has somehow grounded the ignition, causing to to not start? if someone has experience with this can you please reach out and let me know what I should be looking at.

Thinking I might have to reconnect the gauges.
Engines are turning over fine, transmissions in neutral the boat has fuel batteries are charged they just crank. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Various grounds and ignition power wires, get their continuity by sharing a post on the back of gauges. If you just taped off all the lugs, you've probably broken the ignition circuits. If you removed all the gauges, you need to connect back together all the lugs that were previously connected together. There is one wire-chain behind the gages for port ignition, and one for starboard. On my boat at least, there are two ignition buzzers, One attached to the port ignition wire and one attached to starboard. Having those disconnected should not cause any run issues.

I'd start with the respective ignition wires. Then make sure you have continuity between all the lugs attached to a black wire (ground). There is no need to re-install the gauges. Just restore the continuity they provided.

One possible exception might be the sync gauge. You may have to reconnect that and just bury it behind the gauge panel. I say this, because it is the only gauge I retained when I installed all NMEA gauges.

Yeah...will take the tachometers and sync back to the lake with me. I imagine there is more than one ignition wire attached the ignition post of each engine/tachometer.

I separated each and should have kept them attached together...thanks for the refreshing input...will be returning to the boat later this week and will take a closer look.

According to my sea ray wire color chart, I should be looking for violet wire.

Thanks again

Jon
