I am in need of a new mechanical fuel pump for my boat. I have a 1977 SVR 240 with a OMC GM 350 engine. There are so may simular types of fuel pumps, and I sure the look has changed since my old one was made. I think that the Sierra 18-7268 may be the replacement. Any help would be great folks.

Between the sierra and my local napa parts store I was able to get Holley Marine fuel pump, cheaper. They make them for big blocks and small blocks. Jegs.com

More of a Mopar man myself but seems like there are two types depending on how it rides the cam? Our marine mechanic said he'd have to pull the existing to know which to order. Which by the way, my brother saw him the other day and they are still on back order...

In a previous manufacturing position, I worked for a concern manufacturing fuel pumps. Back then most of what we made were the old mechanical type, and in addition to the OEM replacements for GM, Ford, and Crysler, we also provided pumps to Mercruiser. The only difference in the GM and Mercruiser mechanical pumps was that the Mercruiser pumps had an E-Coat (epoxy) coating for the corrosion concern. I personally think that any pump spec'ed to your engine would do the job.

Thanks for you help guys.... I finally found a mechanic that was familiar with the OMC 350's and this is the part that I found on ebay of all places for ony $60.00 new. This is a $180 part online anywhere else, so I really lucked out on this. Works great but now I'm having carb problems I'm trying to work through. Just part of the money pit I guess... LOL.
