After feeding the carpet runners smashed up cheeto's and a variety of sand and dirt this past weekend, they are complaining about wanting to be clean.

I'm pretty sure I can just throw them in the washer, but can they be dried in the dryer, or do they need to line dry?

On a low-heat/no-heat setting only. However, if you hang them in the sun (like over your railing or on a clothesline) they'll dry out in no time at all.

You can re-treat with a fabric guard if you want, but not necessary. 303 Fabric guard is recommended by Sunbrella, but other brands will work fine - especially since you're only dealing with the runners and not the outside canvas.

You know, the more you feed them, the more they get a craving for people food!

Thank you for posting this question. Ours are dirty after this past weekend as well.

I agree. Machine wash. I air dry them. No problems.

I do all the above, however I put them down when they are still slightly damp.Snapping them down damp also helps control shrinkage.

I machine wash and machine dry and have not had any problems. I actually like that they are a little snug after being dried. They loosen up pretty quick but they look nice and neat when they're fresh out of the dryer.

Do they smell "snuggly soft", too? 'Cause right now, I'm imagining you snapping the runners down, then taking a minute to admire how nice they look, then feeling how soft they feel, then laying down on them because they're still nice and warm - just out of the dryer... Sorry - it's getting late - I should be in bed.

 Now that you mention it, they do smell snuggly soft! Makes the cabin smell fresh....or so my wife says. Oh yes, I do take a minute to admire how nice they look. Just like mowing the lawn...grab a beer and stand on the deck and admire...that's a required part of a man's job....

Be careful with that fabric softner, which is apparently just thinly-disguised oil.

Someone heading into the cabin (occcupied by 4-5 easily amused drunks) while carrying drinks in each hand that need to be refreshed for the enjoyment by counterparts of previously-mentioned drunks, might slip on oiled-up runners.

He might slide on his a$$ all the way down the stairs, and while still holding melting ice cubes and diluted vodka, end up on his back in the middle of the salon, feet in the air and holding the glasses like 1/4-full trophies.

The victim was banged-up and bruised, and the drunks laughed for half an hour.

The runners haven't been on the boat since...
