MerCruiser 5.0 with Alpha I Drive
Hello all,

I'm in the market for a new prop, and have no idea where to start. I'm only looking for a stainless.

I have a 2001 210 bowrider, with the 5 liter and alpha drive.

I currently have 2 props, one SS, and one alumn.

Aluminum prop has the following markings "48 78122 A40 21P" I found little info on the prop, I believe it's a 14" diameter, and 21 pitch.
With the alumn prop, I top out at 4800 RPM's and ~40MPH (pretty poor!)
Stainless prop is a Mirage Plus "48 13700 19P" This is a 15.25" diameter and 19 pitch.
With the SS prop, I top out at 4400 RPM's and ~52 MPH (not bad, RPM's on the low side)

Out of the hole, the alumn, 21P does OK, it takes a little bit to plane out. Every now and then I have problems getting the SS on plane. It looses it's bite, like it's cavitating. The edges are slightly chewed from hitting bottom once.
My goal is to get similar performance (better out of the hole) as my current SS prop, but more RPM's. I'd like to get closer to 4600-4800 max RPM's.

If I went with a smaller diameter SS and keep the same pitch, 14.75 or 15 diameter would this help?

Thanks!
Kevin
