Prop size for 210 select

I just got a 2007 210 select with the 300 HP mercury engine. At the lake today we had to keep the trim all the way down or else it seemed like the prop would just spin out. I think the place we bought the boat from might have put the wrong size prop on it. Is there something else that could be wrong? Thanks for the help.

If the prop has the prop ventilation system, it could be the problem. Check for holes in the ring that the blades attach to. If there are holes in the shell, try blocking them off. You have way too much power to need to thin out the water around the prop.

Is this your first boat?

Did you buy it privately or from a dealer?

no its not my first boat, had a crownline 202. It was bought from a dealer. it has a 19 pitch prop which seems like what most people are using with this boat. I will have to check out the vented thing, im not sure if its vented or not. There is deffinetly something wrong. It takes about 15 seconds to plane off, and then if you move the trim up even a little it feels like the prop losses traction, and the engine revs.
