Prop shaft calking

Hello Terry and welcome to CSR! I would assume someone on YouTube made a video about changing packing in a shaft log. It is fairly straight forward: get the correct size (take a piece with you to get same size); cut to length around shaft using an angled cut (45 degrees); then wrap around shaft. Three pieces with the cuts alternated will do it. When you tighten the packing nut, be mindful that it should be tight but not too tight. There should be water dripping from the shaft log, this is how it is lubricated. Too tight and the packing dries out and It will burn and leak. If you have not done this before, you may want to let the pros do it once and watch them. Also, I would suggest "drip less shaft seals" they are virtually no maintenance and you bilge will be dry!
