Prop shaft broke on 340DA yesterday

I had the exact same thing happen on my Cruisers this year:

150' of water, we didn't hit anything.

According to the INS co, we hit something.

Total repair bill was $3400. My end of that was $880.00.

Took 3 weeks to get it repaired, and I was in the middle of no-where when it broke. (Google Maps: Little Current, Ontario)

I believe both the prop and shaft came from Kawartha Prop Works in Buckhorn, Ontario.

Back in the water and home now, all good.

Nothing wrong with Little Current, but you could have been in Killarney and that would have been a problem.
Spent 6 weeks up there this summer.

Actually , we broke down just outside of Killarney. We limped into Killarney, talked to a tech there, and he told us we'd have to get it to LC. We spent one night at the Sportsman, then limped into LC on the port engine the next morning.

I wish we had more time to spend up there, but the breakdown cost us the rest of the holiday.

Apparently it is NOT a probem only affecting Sea Ray's after all... A "Cruisers" had the same problem???

Perhaps they get their shafts from Sea Ray.

Brought the new shaft and prop to the yard today. They said they would install it first thing in the AM and crossing my fingers it all goes smooth. I am scheduled to leave for a trip at 3:30.

I hope it works out for you. I can only imagine the urge (been there). Just make sure to do enough testing to make sure that all is well and functioning as normal.

Picked up the boat exactly 1 week to the minute I dropped it off. One big bill but everything worked great this weekend. Took it for a quick test ride with the mechanic then off for the weekend.

Do you mind sharing how much the total bill was?

New Prop for 1009.00, new shaft $1750.00, haul and labor 1800.00 with a total bill of 4559.00. As I told my friends while cruising this weekend it was priceless...
