Hi,

Posted this under another forum but didn't get any response. I have a 2000 380 DA Sundancer with 454 Mag MPI's and was wondering if anyone has experimented with the pitch on their props. Standard is 21x22 and I was thinking I'd go to 21x24. I would like a higher top-end when out to sea and don't really need the torque at the low end as I'm typically in a river with lots of "no wake" zones.

Thanks.

My suggestion is to only change the cup ,You didn't say if your props have it,and how much .For example from no cup to light cup, from light cup to medium cup etc

Ps in the case you want higher top end reverse whatever cup you have right now

Changing the pitch from 22 to 24 will lower the wot rpm but may not increase your speed. You have to check and and determine your engines normal wot rpm operating range. Having your props pitched so you're either above or below recommended wot rpm could reduce your engine's life. Maximum speed has more to do with the power output available from the engines, but having the right prop will optimize what you have.

I'd suggest talking to your local Prop Scan dealer. The one I've used in Detroit seems very knowlegeable about such things and helped to dial my boat in perfectly. They don't charge for advice or to scan your props.

Thanks for the replies. The props are out now at Hale Propeller in Old Saybrook, CT. I'll call and see if he has any recommendation for my boat and will check out the engine specs.

I'm swinging 21x24's with CAT's so I doubt you can safely do it without overloading your engines. What WOT RPM can you reach with the 21x22's?
