I am trying to remember on a inboard which nut goes first against the prop the thin first then the thicker one. I believe the thin one is able face the prop better and the thick one is the lock nut ?

Thin one should be the lock-nut. At least it was on all the inboards I had. And the others just had cotter pins instead of locknuts.

According to ABYC (I think that's right) the thin nut goes on first and it will distort when it is torqued, then the thick nut goes on and supposedly straightens the thin nut and locks the two together. Mark

Thanks, That is what I thought but could not remember for sure.
