Be aware: These people are hard to work with. My Promatic 30-3 battery charger went out. After 3 emails / I was told of the internal fuse (which was not blown) Told them I would need to send the unit back per the limited warranty. Was told the unit was too old to repair. They offered a discount on another unit. Their discounted price was $100.00 more than I could by online. When I told them that, I was told "then you should jump on it" Wow......this is coming from the manufacture. I would not have a Promariner product in my boat if they gave it to me.

George,

I'm sorry to hear about your problem with Promariner. Another member here recently had great success with them. see this thread:

I sent back my 3 year old 1240i because the internal fan was making some noise but was still charging fine. Before sending it in, I filled out their online form
and also had a conversation with them. Got a call a week later and was told that my charger was out of warranty and that it was dead.
Made zero sense to me and after needling them, they told me the AC module was shot and it was not charging. Gave me some options for new models
at a discounted price. I knew this was a line of BS and asked them how this could have happened. Told me it was a power surge. Questioned them again on this
because my breaker never tripped, the fuse in the unit never blew and it was charging when I pulled it out of the boat. Had to ask twice to have them recheck the unit.
Called a day later and said they had already scraped my unit and sent me a remaned unit at no charge. Was not totally happy with the outcome(since my unit was fine and only needed the fan to be replaced) and really makes me question whether to look else where when it comes to future purchases.

I had great service when I needed help. Sorry to hear of your troubles. Was the price you found lower than most other prices online? A dealer clearance? MM

That is entirely opposite of my experiences with them. They have always been extremely helpful, including offering a reman unit at a very reasonable price when mine failed.

I have serious doubts that you could purchase a factory reman unit for $100 less that Promariner was selling it for unless you were buying some stuff off eBay that someone was trying to unload.

Yeah. They are great in my opinion. I just sent back mine (see the above thread Todd referred to) and was very happy. FYI, if your unit is as they say too old to repair, their upgrade replacement program is 50% off of list off of any charger they have. That's more than fair. If you buy it from some online dealer for $100 less than 50% off list then yes you should buy it.
That's not a bad attitude from them, it's the truth. If you take your car to the dealer and they say your alternator it kaput and it's $800 to replace it with factory unit, are you going to get mad because you can find an alternator that will work at AutoZone for $300?

The point is that they back their products and when they're obsolete or outdated they have a great upgrade program and support on current models. The people I've dealt with are very factual, helpful and good to follow up on their calls. They're not as fast on the emails but in that business phone calls are easier to deal with I'm sure. I can imagine their inbox is full of bozos asking if they can just stick a nickel where the fuse was on the unit they bought online for $100 less than 50% off list and are pissed when they don't get an email back in 30 minutes.

[HTMLA[/HTML]Has anyone bought the new Pronautic 1250P units? My original Propmariner 30 amp unit is working, but I would like to upgrade to one that can desulfate and properly maintain my Trojan golf cart battery house bank rather than just charge at 13.8v. The golf cart bank is losing capacity too early in life and I think a modern four stage charge will help.

I've had great experiences with them on my 320 and my current boat, both in answering questions to avoid unnecessary service as well as quick turnaround when I had a real need for it.

After reading all your comments: Promatic is good dealing with problems on new units, but then who isn't, the true measure of a product is how the manu deals with problems after a few years. And by that standard...Promatic fails

typical yankee...everyone is stupid except your DA. My dock buddy has an old POS 270 and hates it, no wonder u like Promatic

Other thread deleted. Please do not create duplicate threads George.

I've resurrected this ancient thread, to unfortunately, confirm the OP's statement.

No deals for those who are upgrading due to unit failures. I just spoke with customer service at Pro Marine.

Your rig is 20 years old. Wouldn't you take that as confirmation that ProMariner is a solid product, built to last? I sure would.

My stock ProMariner lasted 22 years before kicking the bucket. I immediately paid full retail for a new one since, well, I expect it to last another 22 years :) And the dang thing costs less than a full tank of fuel, so...
