Pro Nautic battery charger issue

Boy, they didn't even ask me what I was running for batteries, how many banks I had, absolutely nothing about my boat. I guess that they just figured that they would sell me the replacement for what I had.

Steve,
I approached them specifically because I was doing an upgrade, so I think that's why there was a discussion about the battery sizes and charging needs. Not sure if it makes a difference, but I was also speaking with the tech support line vs the sales line. Anyway, sorry you had a less-than-satisfactory experience with them.

Update on Pro Mariner,
Today I was expecting to receive my battery charger from Pro Mariner. I ordered it on Tuesday a little past the dead line so the tech told me that it wouldn't go out until Wednesday and I would have it on Monday (Today). I expressed my need to get it as quick as possible, since my boat is in the water and anything could happen and I would hate for my bilge pumps not have enough power. Well anyway, this morning I received an e-mail that it had a package coming from Wisconsin and it would be delivered on Tuesday. I was sure that the charger was coming from New Hampshire so I called Pro Mariner and sure enough the Lady Answering the phone did a little checking and the charger did not go out until Friday. I politely expressed my displeasure with the entire process from the tech telling me that they can't repair my old unit to him assuring me it was going out on Wednesday. I must say that she was very sweet and very concern about the level of service I received. I thanked her for her help and thought that was it. However, a few minutes later I received a call from GM. He was very surprised that I was told on two occasions by the same tech that they could not repair my old unit. He says that they definitely have a lot of parts for the older units and are always happy to test them and see if they can be repaired.
He was great and explained that they ship from another facility and that it takes a couple of days to process the order. That to me is completely understandable and had I been told that to begin with, I would not have planned to install tonight. He also offered to send a call tag for my old unit and see if they can repair it.

That few minutes that he took to talk to me, completely changed my attitude toward Pro Mariner, I even explained to him that I was a member of Club Searay and that I had been told that this is a pretty isolated event and that Pro Mariner had a very good reputation with Club Searay members. Hopefully, he will straighten out his techs attitude and others will have a better experience.

Good to hear! I installed a 120v 60amp unit in my 410 and it works great! A little extra work upsizing the wiring for the 60 amps but it charges good and fast...

Mine came with a Guest as well, but I really only have a fridge and a few lights for a house load. When I was having issues, I called and spoke with Guest. They were clear that is was not suited for that application, and even went as far as to recommend a competitive brand and model that was correct for an application with a house load. I too found it fascinating that SR/ Marine Max used a Guest model on mine, but I figured I was on the cusp with such a small potential need for a house load.

btw, they said because there is no 12v supply mode, every time I used the house load, the charger would start all over in the charging cycle effectively cooking my battery.

Might explain why one bank of batteries went tits up last year. Hmmm. Another reason to hate marine max. They suck.
