I cleaned my sea strainer on the air conditioner water pump on Friday, but when I tried to refire air units the pump had no prime so the water would not get to the air units.

Does anyone know how to prime the pump with out having to drive the boat to force the water up into the system?

You probably got an air block. Take a phillips screw driver and crack loose the 4 screws holding the pump together. let some water leak out and re-torque the screws. Problem should be fixed.

I have my little trick. Start the pump and open the strainer a little. Some water will drip into the bilge but there are chances the pump will purge

Another quick and easy way is to take the hose off of the discharge side of the pump. Leave it off for a couple of seconds until a nice stream of water comes through.
Shove the hose back on the fitting.
Tighten the clamp.
Start you A/C.

I always pour water back in my strainer bowl first before I open the sea cock and that does it for me.

Use a garden hose spray nozzle. Close seacock and disconnect the hose to the pump at the strainer. Place the nozzle on the hose to the pump and force water thru the system then quickly reconnect hose to strainer. Open seacock and turn on AC. Works everytime for me. Don't forget to secure hose clamps!

Just run the boat. It will prime itself once you go on plane - AND this is much more fun than taking off hoses!
