Hi guys,

I bought 1997 Sundancer 250DA and the previous owner has sealed this little gap. What do you think should this be sealed or not? If not do you think will this cause any harm? like moisture build up?

That is supposed to be sealed / cauked. The helm is a separate and the caulk seals up the seam where it connects to the bulkhead. Either the previous owner had to remove the helm (maybe to repair the cabin door - it is common to remove the helm for that) or they just tried to clean up the old factory caulk. Either way, they recaulked that seam for some reason and did not do a very good job. You could clean it out and re-caulk for a better look.

Thanks a lot.

It looks pretty awful... Have to fix it during the winter.

I agree it needs to be sealed and I agree it looks awful and should be fixed. Some people have the best intentions but not the skills to match. Best of luck...caulk is not the easiest to remove. The previous owner of my boat used clear caulk to seal everything including placing a dab over every screw head.....huge PIA to go get it all off.

I re-bedded the portlights several years ago the PO did the same thing it took many hours to remove 3-4 layers of chaulk. You can remove and redo it make sure to give yourself plenty of time & acetone.
