Presto Marine Tender Lifts

Tom, I sent you a bunch of pictures to your number several days ago. Did you get them?
Post some pics here please… I want to see

I need a better solution to get the dinghy on the back of the boat than the hydraulic crane davit I have. I've looked also at several other lifts including a swim platform system; I really don't want the maintenance issues with the mechanism under water.

Tom, did you look at Freedom Lift for comparison?

I understand what you mean about under-water bits and pieces, but casual glances suggest FL might be slightly less prone to problems (compared to lifting platforms). I think the arms are removable, too. I have no clue about costs or installation and so forth...

Sealift owns Freedom Lift and I was talking to them on a Freedom Lift arrangement because I liked the removable arms but they didn't follow through; it's been over a month. Then after that I saw these Presto Marine lifts and am interested in their XL 500 product. So far the folks that have them are very satisfied with the product; I've a couple more boxes to check before I commit.

It seems like a great engineering design. Like you said, biggest bonus is not having a large chunk of metal in the salt water 24/7.

Installation doesn't seem too difficult or intrusive... Except it appears there will be quite the hydraulic oil mess on the swim platform before all done.

What do you do with the rest of the morning before lunch:D? The video makes it look like a guy could do three of these in a day! That really is a clean installation. I wonder if you could easily use QDC fittings on the sliding version and remove them while not in use? I hate my davit as it is ugly and permanently installed, I made my Nick Jackson on the 44 removable and enjoyed full use of the platform. My 506 has a rather large platform but currently is not useful as a sitting area.

Thanks Tom! Now I'm all horny to install one! I just emailed the distributor for a quote for a self install sliding unit. I just sold My BMW 750i so before I go do something stupid like buy another car, I think the Trevi just might get an upgrade. This one the wife will appreciate too because she hates the davit more than I do! I enjoy driving my Ram 2500 HD and actually I buy diesel at Sam's for less than 89 Octane gasoline.

This answered a couple of questions I had on assembly -
I ran across the video surfing around the subject this morning. I have a buddy that could duplicate this system in his hydraulics fab shop. I am considering building one using aluminum plate and powder coating it to make the individual lift units lighter and easily portable. I typically take the dink on about three trips a year so having the lift on full time just does not make sense to me. In weighing the cost savings and obvious engineering snags, for the price these guys charge it makes way more sense to just cut the check.

The Rep said you could set something up to slide the lift off of the rails but he said they are heavy; he actually dropped one of the J-brackets in the water taking it off. I guess the J-brackets are rather weighty. I'll probably only install the J-brackets when I transport the dingy and other times lay the arms down.

What are we talking here $$. I can see 10-15k. Looks like a really well engineered and manufactured system.

I don't see why these could not be bolted to a permanently mounted thraded plate under neath each. Would need a quick connect hydraulic fitting...

Full up with extended rails and all options I want is $14K delivered but not installed plus tax.
Say I do the installation It looks like around another $500 in wiring, circuit breakers, sealants, etc.
I like the backer plate, @LG111 has these. It would simplify a couple of issues in going over the existing chalks and adapting backing plates under the swim platform. One thing, the lift is limited how high above the water it is installed. I'm at 21.5 inches full fuel full water which is close to the maximum; this is one of the things the rep and I need to discuss....

If it could be removable, looks like a great system. I think easily DIY install. Pricy, but you do get what you pay for usually.

Met the rep on the boat this afternoon. The rail design is completely changed to a single piece of machined stainless and the "carriage" now has wheels instead of linear bearings; he says it is a much better design; regardless, I like the simpler rail system. It looks like it will adapt to my boat just fine. There is no longer a wired remote; only wireless so I'll order two wireless remotes. As a backup if the remotes are lost or don't work there is a manual pump lever and the control wiring can be jumped to operate it. The pump looks also as it is a bit more robust it takes a 250 amp fuse rather than the previous 175 amp fuse. The message is their videos are old and need to be revised.
Anyhow I'm going to pull the trigger on it.

Here are a few install pictures.

Here are a few install pictures.
Not sure why I can't load more than two pictures at a time. The process of one at a time consuming. Any hints.

I have issues doing it on a smart phone. From a PC click on Reply then type in your narrative then click on the Upload a File button. Then select all of the pics you would like to upload (I hold the Ctrl button and select all that I want to load) and select Open from that dialog box menu. It can take a bit but all of the photos will load up. Once they do you can select to show all full size if you desire otherwise they will show as a postage size button as the one you did earlier.
If you need to edit after upload then click on Edit then More Options and you will see the pictures and narrative that can be edited.
Another way that works is to click on reply then drag your photos into that dialog box and they will load full size.

WOW... thats not a bad deal at all. I just wish there was a way to make it removable easily. But all said and all things considered with all the connections and parts it is cool. How long are the sliding mounts that go on the swim step?

There are three lengths of rail. Their 47 inch long rail best fit my boat.
I found out yesterday from the Rep that they changed the rail design. Now a single piece of machined stainless steel that looks like this extended, retracted, and lowering/lifting -
