I have been very impressed with the concept of Pre Lube systems for marine diesels. In fact I'm somewhat flabbergasted that such systems are not STANDARD on marine systems given the comparitve low cost vs. the high cost of repairs.

Has anyone installed a after market Pre Lube system on their engines and if so, what do you think of it?

Chad,
Pre-lube systems should be standard equipment. The system it's self is simple and automatic. The negative side is most commonly available systems max out a 3qt capacity. On the big diesels that can take up to 20qts I don't think 3 is going to be adequate.

Some systems

I've searche dout some systems that use an oil pan port and have access to all the oil in the engine ... the one I recall claimed ot be able to pressurize the entire galley to bearings in 40 seconds ... It shuts down automatically and it runs post shut down until the engine temp drops to a set level.

The Hype is sexy stuff to a gear head.
