Looking for suggestions - power trim "up" button does not raise the outrive. No sound or anything. Down works fine, and trailer button raises the unit.

Any advise greatly appreciated!

With you saying the trailer button works fine that eliminates the solenoid. Sounds like its a bad switch in the control handle. I just had the same problem and had to replace the switch.

your trim limit sensor is bad.

I agree with masilobes. It could be other issues but the trim sensor is the most common reason for your problem description.

The trim limit switch looks like a hockey puck. Its on the port side of your outdrive near the top.

Two wires come out of this trim limit switch.

Please examine these wires. A cut/broker wire is not uncommon.

The correct solution is to pull the drive to properly run the wires for the new sensor.

The DIY solution without pulling the drive is to slide a piece of heat shrink with mastic over the new wire, replace the sensor, splice the new wire to the end of the lead wire from the boats transom then slide the heat shrink over the splice, heat it until it shrinks making a water tight seal.

Personally I’d just use the trailer button until I needed to pull the drive for routine service then install a new sensor.
