I have a ShoreLandr trailer for a Searay 185. We have a problem where the right tail light does not light for brake or blinker. However, there is power to the light. When you turn on the lights, the light illuminates. It just won't get darker for brakes or blink when the blinker is turned on. Any idea what could be wrong? Thanks.

Is this is a new problem on an existing tow vehicle or is this a new tow vehicle you are wiring?

Never mind -I missed the fact that it was only the right taillight - What Coralreefer suggested is a good bet.

There should be three wires coming out of your taillight. One is a ground (and may be connected to the frame of the trailer), one is for your running lights, and one is the brake/blinker wire. You state that when you turn on the lights the light illuminates. That is normal. The brake/blinker filament is brighter and comes on separately whether the running light is on or not. Nothing gets darker for the brake/blinker, a separate filament inside the bulb comes on and is brighter. As CoralReefer suggested, try a different bulb. While you have the bulb out, look for corroded contacts. It's a good idea to unplug your lights before backing into water. Have a great day!
