Power Steering Pump Replacement

Hi all!
I purchased a 260 1999 Sundancer mid-August and it appears that the power steering pump is shot. Seeing as I'm new to this, and the Mercruiser replacements are insanely expensive, has anyone had any experience swaping in one from an auto parts store? The engine is a 7.4 liter MPI.

Not that particular model but I replaced one on a 98 Larson 270 Volvo Penta 7.4.
A local auto parts house matched mine to a 1977 AMC concord or something similar.
All I had to do was swap one of the hose fittings.
Total cost was less than $70.00.

I had mine rebuilt from carquest for ~$40. Worked like a champ after.
