A friend has a 2004 34 Sundancer. Question came up about engine power lift. :smt017 Winter storage after you remove your batteries, how do you open and close the engine hatch. I think there must be a release pin to alow you to manualy lift or close. I know some one out here will have answer.

John, did you get the answer? I'm dealing with the same puzzle. The link to the old site doesn't help.

Thanks,
Alex.

I know on the 320 (and should be the same on the 340), there was an emergency adaptor that plugs into the dc (cigarette lighter plug) on the dash, with a positive and negative wire to attach to a battery. Just bring a battery and attach the wires and it will power the hatch for you to lift or close. Mine was in the black Sea Ray bag with all the manuals and warranty info.

Hope this helps.

Barry

Also, there are two panels under the carpet in the top of the hatch. Open the panels, reach in and pull the pins. Get a friend. Lift the hatch by hand and prop it open.

AS someone who had to lift the hatch on the 340 manually u better get lots of friends .... its not easy.... never mind the way u have to manipulate ur hand and arm to reach the pin tru a way to small acess door. NOT recommended !!!!

Simple. Just tape off the battery leads and hook up shore power cable to 110v extension cord. Make sure 110v "Converter" breaker is on, and lower the hatch electrically. Done.

The "factory" answer, which I posted on another thread:

As far as the electric hatch, you should have been provided with a cigarette lighter male end, connected to a red and black pigtail.

Plug it into your 12 volt receptacle at the helm, after you connected it to one of your batteries, and the hatch will operate.....

Sounds like a lot a lot of "fun". I'll skip it.

John, the adaptor from searay will not reach your batteries, but they are to low anyway to raise the hatch. The hatch weighs a ton. Any 12 volt male adaptor with the two lead wires will work. You can buy one at walmart. Just get a small battery and plug it in the cigarette lighter and up it goes. I ended up buying 2 110 volt converters and extension cords cause they don't draw much to keep the batteries charged up and leave the boat plugged in all the time. The converters were cheap on ebay. Brand new was half the price MM wanted.
Good luck.

Alex,
I think it was the battery switch in the boat that failed. so we had to lift the hatch manually..... Took us longer to pull the pin then anything else.

Rob

After searching the Sea Ray bag that came with the boat I've found the adapter. So, looks like I shoud be fine.

Thank you all for suggestions,
Alex.

I have a SR 350 sundancer. I have power but cant open the engine hatch. How do I open the engine hatch?

I was researching this very problem as I’m having a survey performed and the first thing was to open the engine hatch. Hit the switch and nothing. Power good on all batteries, battery switch on, shore power on- no lift. Kind of put a damper on the survey to say the least. Won’t go into all the troubleshooting and even having the broker crawl into the engine to release the pin. No one else could fit.
Any case it turned out to be corrosion on the connector behind the dash switch that just decided to have enough resistance to not allow enough power to get through that particular day. Hope this helps someone someday.
