Power Distribution Panel Question

On the 12 volt side of my power distribution panel, there is a breaker for 'Waste Pump'. What is this for? There is a breaker for the 'Marine Head'. This turns on an off the electric head, but I still am unsure about the 'Waste Pump' breaker.

I have a 1997 Larson Cabrio 270 with a vacuflush head, fresh water pickup with seacock, and what appears to be no overboard discharge and no Y valve.

Thanks again.

Doug

It is for your macerator pump that dumps your holding thank overboard though a thru hull in your engine room.

I apologize.... I believe I said it was a vacuflush head but I rechecked the documentation from the survey and it states 'Macerator type electric head'. When I turn on the 'Waste Pump' breaker, I hear nothing. Also in the survey documentation it states the raw water supply is located directly in front of the engine via a head ball valve seacock.

I checked the holding tank and there appears to be no discharge from the holding tank other than the pump out hose.

I went out to the boat and I pulled the access panel in the aft cabin (behind the head) and there are only two hoses going to the head. One is the large one going to the top of the holding tank, the other is coming from the seacock in front of the engine. I see nothing else. I guess I'm going to have to take the power distribution panel out and see if any wires are attached to the breaker.

Since we would just be guessing as there are not too many Larson owners here, even though there might be a lot of Gary Larson fans, you might want to ask your dealer or try LarsonOwners.com.

Best regards,
Frank

Doug,

While you may have found his answer not helpful there is some truth to it. Due to no one here has a Larson when you ask a specific question like what is this and where is this on my Larson boat, any answer provided from a Sea Ray owner unless they have owned a Larson in the past is probably no better than a WAG. Just my .02.

It is. Your dealer will provide the answer with greater certainty than you'll find here.

Best regards,
Frank

I agree.
Doug,
We're happy for you and your new purchase. I think Frank's answer and Wesley's reply is spot on. I find it kind of rude that you replied to Frank in a way as if any of us would have better info or wouldn't admit we're just guessing as to what you may have. Most of us Have SeaRays. I'm not speaking for Frank, but his reply seems to be kindly suggesting you ask the Larson Clan for their Knowledge base, experience or similar model. We're just going to be shooting in the dark as to the specifics of your Systems.
Best of luck, but your answers may not be here, but the unfortunate reality seems to be that there doesn't seem to be a Larson forum like this one. I did a Google Search and didn't see anything, other than on BoatUS.

The question was meant to be more general than specific. I listed the boat as an after thought thinking that there could be a possibility that someone has gone through the same issue.

The answer to the question is either:

1. The breaker is for the macerator discharging waste overboard.

2. The breaker isn't used for anything because the same panel was used in several different configurations.

I answered my own question.

I called Larson early this morning and apparently they do not keep build sheets for vessels older than 10 years old. I ended up pulling the panel this evening and tracing the wire back to the bilge in the wire tray. As I pulled back the wire loom, I found a pair of wires taped up with connectors on the end. My meter confirmed that indeed these wires were for the waste pump option from Larson.
