Potomac river beach areas

Anybody have any good suggestions for a beach area on the Potomac around 301 bridge/Colonial Beach area? My son will be two in August and he likes to stretch his legs. Sharks tooth beach is great, I just can’t see spending $125 to sit in the sand. Don’t mind heading even further down river if it’s worth the haul. Thanks for your help.

If you pull into Coles Point Marina, I'd bet you could use the beach if you had lunch, bought fuel, etc. Worth an ask.
