Potential Sea Ray purchase

Looking at an 1982 SRV 225 with hardtop. Boat has new 5.7 engine and outdrive with only 16 hours. Any problem areas in this year i should look for? Are the stringers wood or cored with balsa and glassed? Any insight and help would be appreciated.

i would suggest checking the bilge. Make sure that that area is dry before you go out on a sea trial. After returning from the trip check it again to ensure there is no leaks. I just wish someone would have warned me about this before i made my pruchase.

To answer your question: Yes, there is plenty of glass wrapped wood below the waterline of your boat. Make sure you check under the deck for rot.
