Well, last week I had checked a few hoses for the remaining pieces and put the raw water pump back in the boat, dropped it in the water the next day and found out I hadnt tightend one clamp. A little excitement as the water streamed in, but Im glad it was the only one.
Tried to turn it over and the batteries were dead. Charged them for two days and tried again, NADA. The engine cranked really well but would not light off. :smt100 It was getting spark so I thought it was a fuel problem... Note to self: Add sparkplug socket to tool kit. At that point I gave up and pulled the boat to the mech.
Found out yesterday that there was water in the cylinders! :smt013 The mech said it was common when the impeller goes and you shut down. Is there a way to prevent this or is it just a given?
He also said something about water in the oil and I should have an oil change before I run the boat. Does that sound right? When I checked the dipstick there was no water on it, only oil.
So for $200 I have new plugs and they back washed the motor and didnt find any more pieces of impeller. I figured I can do the oil myself and save $100.
