How do you replace the oval porthole screens, are their kits available or is it better to just cut new screens to fit? Does it require taking out the entire porthole or is there an easier way to do it?

Our portholes were leaking. So we ended up replacing the screen and the gasket too. Our local Marine Max was able to order them. If you go that route - when you get them they do not look like they will fit.. but they do, quite nicely. The previous owner had just glued new screen to the old gasket, which in time ate away at the gasket causing the leak.

Pompanette/ Bomar is the OEM. Here is the link: http://www.pompanette.com/home
I ordered my Retro Kits from them for about $23.00 per window. It includes the new grooved gasket and a plastic snap-in screen. You just pry the old gasket out from the inside (When not roasting in direct sunlight, but warm) and peel and stick the new ones in.

There are some people here that just ordered the screens and cut away the old screen as long as the window isn't leaking. They have stated that the screen will stay in the gasket even without the groove. I can't personally attest to that.

Other people have done the repair even cheaper by prying out the old gasket and siliconing in a piece of screen from Home depot and resetting the gasket in it.

Good luck!

Did you have a part #?

I do somewhere. I recently came across it as I prepared for the flotilla. I'll see if I can find it again & report back.

I carefully pried out my non-leaking gaskets with a plastic prying tool, Cleaned them up and re-sealed them with 3M weatherstrip adhesive. I cut new screen and it basically fits between the metal groove and the gasket. I locked the window shut for a day and they work & look great. Cost like $2.00 for a chunk of screen. If I ever have a leaking gasket I will probably go with the pop in screens.

This is from Bomar when I did mine.
I can determine that the screen and gasket kit you need is the P100-04-RETRO. They are $25.00 per kit. We can ship in approximately one week. You may order through your local distributor or through our Customer Service Department at 603-826-5791.

Here is the installation PDF.

Todd, did you find the part number or is there just one likely choice for our boats?

If you have your Sea Ray parts manual it's part # 959288 Portlight , Screen & Gasket (Bomar) that cross references to P100-04-RETRO. In my manual it's on page 1 & 2.

I installed the new gasket and screens. It came out perfect! Use 3M gasket cement.

In my case I had to re-bed the portlights from the PO putting about 3 layers of caulk on the hull trying to stop a leak. When I removed the old gasket thye just fell apart I had to use a heat gun to remove all the residue from the glue SR or PO used to hold the gasket in.
Hope your gaskets come out without any problems, really makes a difference in how the boat looks when your done my screens were in terrible shape.
