Can anyone recommend a portable induction cooktop that's simple to operate?

My mother lives in a condo building and has somehow several times has shutoff the gas burner flame but left the gas on... filling the lower floors with gas. She doesn't smell the gas and it's causing a big problem.

I need a countertop induction cooktop that will be easy to operate so I can shut off the gas to the stove and she can cook eggs and stuff.

I think Kenyon make land based versions of what’s in a lot of boats.

We just did a kitchen remodel and used this one during construction:

We went with a full induction cooktop for the new kitchen and used the portable to get used to it. We went induction on the theory that we're getting old and one day soon might find ourselves doing the same thing your mom has done; our parents had several incidents in their dotage.
Anyway, we now love induction. Boils water in a minute or so and our cooktop has precise controls. You do need to make sure her cookware is compatible. It needs to be ferrous; aluminum won't work. Easiest way to check is to take a magnet to the pan; if it sticks the pan should work.

That is scary stuff Steve, in the mean time they do make co2/natural gas detectors for the home that would at least alert her of the presence of natural gas.

They put one in after the first time it happened. But there is a ceiling fan and it hasn’t gone off. Not sure if it went off this last time. I will have to ask her later today.

i like this, I use it in the boat, used to use one at my camper also…

+1 on the Nuwave. We use it on the boat quite often instead of the (3) Kenyon 110 V electric "burners".

I usually don't buy stuff based on as seen on TV but a few years ago I went to Sunday brunch at a Double Tree hotel in FL. They had replaced all of their buffet warming pans with these things and I was sold.

Very easy to use, just have to use the correct cookware.
