Got my boat put back in the water from the Hurricane Earl threat on Friday and was able to run up the Chesapeake Bay Saturday afternoon. Meeting some other Sea Ray people up in Port Kinsale... When I arrive at 7 pm, This is waiting for me on the T-head:

No respect...

It is a beautiful morning here though...

My wife got stuck in traffic getting to the boat yesterday so we didn't get underway until 3:45... arrived around 7 PM here... but because of the hurry to get out of the marina, I left the grill in the back of the SUV... So I'm off to find a grill here... and "here" is in the middle of nowhere.

Gary,

Those morning pictures bring back lots of good memories for my wife and I as we usually make it to Port Kinsale once a year.

Hopefully you tried the Sunday brunch today, as I think it's one of the best deals on the Potomac.

You're not kidding about it being the middle of nowhere though!

Mike

Glad you got out Gary. Get a Magma Newport grill.

Hey Gary welcome to our neck of the woods. We were out on the river today but we went North up to Goose Bay. Wonderful day for boating.

We "appropriated" a grill from the marina, since someone forgot their fancy, smancy grill in the back of their car. Probably a good thing since we had to go through the whole:

"me got to make fire" thing:

It started off innocently enough. This guy opens a bag of charcoal and puts in in the grill we borrowed from the marina-

The he puts some lighter fluid on it-

Then, in the Great American Way, more is better, so he squirts a little more lighter fluid-

Then this crazed look comes over the guy and he is mumbling something about burning a winged, hairless dog toy in effigy and he squirts even MORE lighter fluid on the charcoal-

IMG_4899.jpg

The he starts cackling like Dr. Strangelove and squirts EVEN MORE lighter fluid on the charcoal-

IMG_4900.jpg

So, he finally lights the match and we get this puny little fire-

IMG_4903.jpg

Out comes the lighter fluid again-

IMG_4916.jpg

Ok,you know where this is going, right?

End result-

The damn thing exploded into a fireball and the only reason I got the photo was because every muscle in my body tightened up including my spinchter and my trigger finger.

Of course, it doesn't appear that fire safety is really a big thing around here.

I thought Jimmy Bridgeboat had some McGyver in him... Couldn't he just have thrown the steaks on his turbos after winding them up for a while?

Cooking the food was a whole 'nuther story.

How about we cook them this way?
IMG_4925.jpg

Hrmmmp. What does he know about cooking. I'll do them my way-

IMG_4926.jpg

Did he just flip my Bubba Burgers? I don't want anybody flipping my Bubba Burgers.

IMG_4932.jpg

Screw this, every man for himself. Cook your own-
IMG_4930.jpg

This was the point where someone in the white shirt said something about, "this grill smokes worse than Frank W's diesels..."

Hey... I'm not the one that said "Big cooler o' beer and a couple bags of charcoal" was needed...

And Skip's "special seasoning"..

That Rotella T just gives the meat a flavor that can't be topped by normal seasonings. I had two of those Shell Oil burgers.

You guys are dangerous.....glad you only had 3 days.
Gary any injuries? I saw the barefoot Griller picture

Gary.. You are still bare foot? Does not compute. You use the best flares, carry a life raft, wear a life preserver, are meticulas with maintenance, but you continue to walk around bare foot?

I've done the usual and customary boat injuries like driving a fillet knife through the top of my foot and having it come out the bottom and stick in the floor... and fillet knife through the hand... wrapping a power cord around a rotary polisher because I looked up to see some women on the beach in bikinis... That's all normal stuff. ( http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11307&highlight=polisher )

The worst I've done is kicking that damn T-handle on the engine hatch while bare foot. The 480DB has a T-handle (no electric lift) that is normally flush with the deck and you rotate it up and twist it to open the engine room hatch. Looks like this:

In my infinite wisdom, I leave the thing sticking up sometimes... I guess my logic is why burn the 4 calories of energy needed to put the thing flush when you are just going to open it again. One day I jumped into the cockpit from the dock and kicked the thing... My leg powered my foot perfectly with bulls eye accuracy with enough force to kick a 70 yard field goal... the blunt square T-handle end impaled my foot between my toes... I kicked it so hard it pulled the webbing/skin between my toes back and exposed some very ugly sh!t that is under the skin... and it stuck. I had to pull my foot off the handle. It made a suction noise as it came off. You would have thought I was bit by a shark there was so much blood all over the cockpit (up about 3 feet on the door, etc). I called my wife crying and she came and got me... she was shocked when she saw the boat. Anyway, the hospital pulled the webbing back and sewed it all up. Hurt like hell...

The real issue is... I did the EXACT SAME THING one year later but on the opposite foot...

I now wear shoes... at least try to.

A few years ago I slipped on the steps on the front porch and it rotated my foot sideways and the bone severed a couple tendons that retracted up my leg... spent some time in MCV in Richmond getting that repaired... but that's not boating related other than my feet are now in pretty bad shape and I know have a limp... Oh well... need to get a cane.

The dog wants it attached to a 480DB, too. Then he can be a BBG (Bridge Boat Guy). Maybe he'll buy yours when you move to the Marlow?

Great. Have Lance the Wonderdog give Burnie a pep talk. My dog needs a job, too.
