Port engine WOT only getting to 3500 rpms

Ater installing a new ignition sensor, we ran the boat and there was no change. However, the mechanic noticed that the plastic connector on one of the injectors was broken. He disabled the injector and we ran it again. The boat ran the same.

Hopefully, this has been the problem all along, and is why the computer could not find the problem. He's going to put a new (Russo's only sells used ones) injector in by the 4th. I'll keep my fingers crossed till then.

Did you swap distributor caps yet?

Check your fuel pressure... prob a bad pump..

I'm ready to throw in the towel! Injector was replaced, and the mechanic broke another while trying to get the rail back on. Had to buy another one, got it installed, and still no improvement.

Today he did a fuel pressure check and on that motor got 32 psi, the starboard motor was 38 psi. So now we're looking at a possible fuel pump???

I decided to go for a ride and now the motor won't go into gear!!! It starts right up and then start whining. The higher the revs, the louder the whine. Outdrive problems now??? Could this have been the problem all along, or am I very unlucky???

Yes, that fuel pressure would be a direct cause of your lower RPM's. Have you seen this thread today??! http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/52991-Low-fuel-Pressure-Pump-or-regulator-7-4-MPI . He had 26psi and could only get to 3000rpm. You have 32psi and can only get to 3500rpm. You can see the nearly linear correlation between rpm's and fuel pressure! In my case I had 0psi, resulting in 0rpm... :smt001

So your throttle is working since you can increase the RPM's of the boat. Maybe there is an issue with your shift cable linkage, either at the controller, or at the engine? First things first man, you have to quit jumping to the worst possible conclusions!!
