We just got our boat back after a 100 hour service interval. After running both engines for approx 1 hr, the port engine will no longer start. The engine cranks fine but that's about it.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can try before she goes in for service again?

I did call the service company and was told that a computer was required to perform any diagnostics. Aqua-Marine service in Seattle-avoid 'em for service. He was put off when he learned that we weren't going to use him for a considerable amount of fiberglass work that the boat does need including the replacement of the two-outdrives...but that's another story.

Do you have power to the fuel pump?
Is the fuel pump running and is it pumping fuel.
Do you have power to the ignition system and or the ECU.
Check the fuses, one could be blown.
Just a few quick thoughts for you to check.

I am not sure what engines you have but it's possible your IAC (Ide Air Controller) has failed. This is a common problem and one which I have experienced myself. (I carry a spare on board because of this).

Try this procedure and see if it works. First press the lock out button on your outdrive throttle control so you can move the throttle forward with your outdrive in neutral. Move it about half way between neutral and Wide Open and attempt to start the engine. If it starts but then shuts off when you pull the throttle back to neutral, then your IAC is bad. It will cost about $100 bucks for a new one and you can change it yourself in 15 minutes. If you do need one, be sure to get the gasket as well because that is sold separately.

Let us know what you find.

I tried that procedure but still no start. Could the IAC still be bad?

Thanks Dave. We've got a tech looking at it now and it looks like a fuel pump. We trailered 'Beula' over for her last service visit and I suspect that she didn't appreciate all the pumps and jarring from her trip.
