Port engine burning more gas

Twin 1999 merc 454s with 500 hours, port engine is burning more gas than starboard. 340DA with V drive. Anyone any ideas on most most likely reason. Thanks George
 
Are you making this determination from actual fuel burn rates or by the fuel gauge?

Your generator probably pulls from the port side tank.
 
Or, the props could be tuned differently. If everything else checks out, tuning, genny fuel use... You can have the props measured the way they currently are and then have them tuned as required. Another way to check is to run Wide Open Throttle and compare fuel consumptions (if have gauges) and RPMs attained. Port prop having more bite would be verified through a lower WOT RPM (although this could also be signs of a poorly tuned or otherwise ailing engine, too).

Also, Make sure both tanks are the same size.
