Port Engine Alarm IAC

I've had both factory installed IACs go over the years on my 8.1 HO MerCruisers. It's a $140.00 part that took 15 minutes to replace. On my engines, the Smartcraft **** down the effected engine so I couldn't even start it.

Yes. This all started last Friday when my port engine dropped from 3000 to 1800 Rpms while in the channel at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Stopped the boat put it in reverse figuring I had picked something up. Went up to 3500 Rpms and enjoyed the week end. Ran the boat back up the Bay on Monday with no problems.. Went over to the club to pump out today and on the restart smelled plastic burning and got the alarm. Went back across the creek to my cove and put it on the lift. That's when I read the smart craft screen alarm. So if any one has changed one please run me thru it.

Someone else posted this, but the NAPA part# for half the price is 2166509, and the gasket is # 71216

I understood it to fit all the v8's. Call NAPA they would know, or google it on EBAY, look at the pic then look at yours.

Yes fits all 8.1 models, NAPA knowledge depends on employee & how much they care. The gasket looks different but works fine & saves you a bundle. We keep 2 spares on board as they fail often. Also keep clean IAC filters in throttle body to help life span.

I just replaced mine with the NAPA parts, exact replacement, only needs to be painted. Best of all only $62.00 each
