Anyone know anything about it? Available facilities? Current? Upkeep? I know it is still somewhat still in progress but looks like I might want to make a long weekend trip there once sometime in the near future, probably in June when school is out (wife is a teacher). I am now leary of the city docks, too much raging current and flotsam.

we had a flotilla of boats there from Hampstead last October for Riverfest. Marina is still building, but great docks and marina staff. We are going back this year for a wedding and staying there on our boats.

Any head/shower facilities? Gas available as I will need to refuel? Walking distance to the "downtown" restaurant/entertainment area? How about the current, I timed it wrong going to city docks last summer and had a very dicey time, tide was roaring. I will confess that my skills at docking are acceptable, but still work in progress when it comes to putting her into the slip, let alone an unfamiliar one with strong wind and tidal flow conditions.

We run over to downtown Wilmington a couple of times a year and found Port City Marina to be nice but overpriced. While the docks were nice, there were no facilities and fuel wasn't available (yet) when we were there last fall. We prefer Bennet Bro's/Cape Fear Marina just upriver from there (we've stayed there about 10 times). It's not as sheltered from the current as PCM but the people are nice and it has everything but Fuel - it's our favorite downtown. The only downside is that because it's upriver a bit, you won't be walking to downtown - you'll have to take a short cab ride. For fuel we stop at Wilmington Marine Center just down from the ports.

Use your wet head for shower. Not sure if they have fuel yet. If they don't run down to south port. It is a great ride and in a 340 will take you no time. Although time is relative. Yes you can walk and current is not an issue. Give them a call and see what they now have available.

Port City does have bath and shower facilities. Easy walk to downtown via The Riverwalk. As far as fuel, I'm not sure, they were supposed to have it by now, but a phone call will answer that. If not, fuel in Carolina Beach, by Snows Cut. Right on the waterway.
