Going to Ponce Inlet this Summer for a week. Sister in law is getting married in Daytona and this was the closest place that seeemed a little nicer than Daytona.

Anyone live here or been here?

Any reccomendations on things to do? Best fishing charter? Boat rental shops? Since i'm going to be away from my boat the least a can do is be on a boat.

We boat out of Halifax Harbor in Daytona Beach and spend the weekends at Disappearing Island which is a large sandbar at Ponce Inlet. Not sure about rentals, but plenty of restaurants on the water and everything Daytona and New Smyrna Beach has to offer as well.

What exactly is there to offer? Never ben near here and have no idea what to do. I have a young son so family oriented activities is what i am looking for.

I can only sit on the beach for so long. I need to be On the water as opposed to in the water.

I've been going to Ponce Inlet every February/March for 10 years and love the place. You can rent jetskis and paraglide, but I don't know about renting a boat.

Check out the North Turn for lunch - it is located where the North Turn used to be for the Daytona 500 - which was orignally run up the beach and down A1A.

Try Inlet Harbour at happy hour - good food right on the inlet where you can listen to a Jimmy Buffet style band and enjoy a beverage as you watch all the boats come in.

Down the Hatch is not bad. Climbing the lighthouse is worth it to do once...

But, my favourite place for cold beer and great seafood is Boondocks. Plus, it is part of a small marina so you can watch boats while you enjoy a cold one and a grouper sandwich...

Other than that, Ponce Inlet is a quiet place. And, DON"T DRIVE OVER 35 on A1A (South Atlantic Ave). The boys in blue don't have much else to do other than nab out-of-towners for speeding...

I will only make thsi comment, if you some how obtain a boat and decide to venture off- shore in it. talk to someone first, check the tides and winds and ask for advice prior to, Ponce Inlet can be a rough inlet. As to things to do, I know usually has much raft up activity around Disappearing Island. Some may be family areas, and some younger/older folks areas, I am not sure, and have no idea.

Ponce Inlet can be a rough inlet .

Very true. I've spent many hours watching the waves crash over the jetty with boats pitching up and down as they try to go in. There used to be a casino boat that went out twice a day, and watching it return on a wavy night was always a bit scary...

Thanks Andrew! This is the kind of stuff that i am looking for. As for boat rental i'm not 100% sure i want to cut my oceangoing skills on a rented boat so maybe i will be a typical tourist and rent a Jet ski... Water Lice...

Keep any and all ideas coming. Thanks again.
