POLLEN STAINS - ok we need to re- scotch guard or something our boat cover - BUT even at that - we took it off to load the boat up with some new things we got for wedding gifts (married 5/17) and the whole sun pad on the back is stained with yellow marks - looks like pollen leak thru? Anyone ever deal with this? We both went NUTS and the Captain went online and bought enough cleaning stuff to keep us busy all summer - but was wondering if this is common or should we complain that our cover only made it thru ONE season before it needed re-guarding?

I have only had minor pollen isuues but most of mine went away when I took the boat out of the garage and got some sun on it. I think the sun bleaches it away for a lack of a better word.

I assume you are talking about it being a bleed thru with the rain? My covers ( after a year) have gotten a couple of places that are not as water repellent but I used a full cover over them also this winter. I plan on a reapplication of a water repellent soon. And I'm a little bit surprised that it didn't last longer myself.

Congratulations on the nuptuals!!!

Two things:

1. First and foremost, The love of your life is not the Captain, she is the Admiral!!!

2. I agree with the above. Use a good cleaner, and don't use any abrasive, because the sun will take care of the rest.
I had a friend leave a wet, cheap, black umbrella on my white seat, and you guessed it, the dye bled. :smt021
Cleaned it, and the good old sun finished the job. It was spotless in no time.

Gotcha Steve but it was the Admiral posting - Captain was too busy trying to remember all the cleaning products he ordered last night online. the $50 GCert we got from someone as part of the wedding gifts cost us $175 more in other items! The good news is you are all right - we had wiped it up with some mild cleaning product and left it out with the cover off and it's pretty much gone- bad news is the cover really leaks and needs reapplication of water repellent which I think stinks. the other bad news is - when we were all distraught over the stains we left the KEY in the ON position and killed the battery!!! So the Thursday night boat ride was a bit delayed as we jumped and charged it up. Still looking forward to a great boating weekend and thanks for the help as always.
