The pole for the cockpit table and aft lounger, as well as the cabin table is a pain to get out after it its been in awhile. I'm thinking corrosion or imbedded dirt is affecting the mating surfaces. Or is it normal to have to muscle it out? WD-40 didn't help at all.
Oh I don't mind a few x-rated hijack replies as long as there's a grown up answer in there somewhere! :smt001

Actually, it's an aluminum "thing". The material is soft and galls easily. It also has a high coefficent of expansion (chemistry thing). Drop some ice or very cold water down the tube and it will slip out easily as it shrinks.

Give the pole a couple taps (on the side) with your hand as you pull up with your other hand. It's like magic! :smt001

That is my method also. Just make sure that when the pole pops loose you don't smack yourself in the face with the end of it. And NO I'm not speaking from experience. I could just see that happening every time I'm doing it. Now I just jinxed myself.

I had the same issue and I wrapped a dock line around the pole a few times loosely and inserted 2 wooden dowels and twisted in 2 handles till the line was tight on the pole, that allowed me to grab on and pull up while rocking it side to side.
I do believe mine table was in there since the boat was new in 1990.

Its a tapered fit....just tap (not hit!) the thing a few times while pulling up and it'll slip out. But, I kinda like Southpaw's thinking man's approach!

For the cockpit table, I leave the top on and start to unscrew it with it on the pole... Once it starts, I then gentle rock the top off (tapered fit). Not sure you have clearance for the one below to twist on your boat but that does the trick every time...

I rock it back and forth and put a slight twisting motion on it and it will usually pop free with a medium amount of muscle (Without taking out your front teeth as posted above.):smt043

I tied a dock line to it, the other end to a cleat on the dock and launched full throttle. Pulled it right out.

I have to admit the title of the string is deceiving.

Spray the tapered end with some Pam nonstick cooking oil. Works wonders and makes it a WHOLE lot easier to remove. We were having a heck of a time getting our table out. It has two supports and it took my son and I rocking it and pulling to get the stupid tubes out. Now, one person can do it and they slide right out!
