Any help appreciated. Background first and what I know so far - as I do not want to waste your posting time.

I have a 320DA that spends most of its time at our West Vancouver home, though we also have a home in Seattle area so both locations could work for these questions.

i am not in a screaming hurry but want to get synthetic teak installed on the helm, main deck, swim platform, transom ledge, port gunwale step. I would like some input from you guys on costs, experience and installers.

First off I have every thread on here that has the word teak in the title. But most of interest are dated or not in the PNW - if you think I missed something feel free to point me in the right direction.

i have looked at snapin and real teak - and despite heat issues really think one of the synthetics are favored, though I am pretty handy I do not want the lost time of a self install project, I have searched the main synthetic teak sites for installers and have communicated with them when a PNW installer is listed.

for NuTeak I am being quoted $6300 plus taxes ($7000 -total) or $80-$90 per sq. ft. The posts in here are a little out of date and not much in PNW but, it was a surprising quote to me, so questions:-

does that price seem right, I think the most expensive I found on there was $50 or so pers sq ft.

any thoughts or direction you are willing to share in which brand to focus on, flexiteek, plasteak, etc etc.

any reference to reputable installers in the Vancouver area, or Seattle area would be appreciated (not saying the nuteak guy who quoted me isn't but at that cost I want some other input).

any thoughts on this project appreciated.

I had a quote of about $5,000 for Plasteak on my 290. Carpet was about $500. Guess how I went??

Really - do you have a swim platform, I guess you are 80-70 sq ft if you do? Meaning that quote was up in the $80 sq ft range also
What carpet brand do you go with ?

$5k to get plasteak installed on our swim platform and cockpit. The boat is a 43' Tiara and we're in south Florida.

Good luck with the project. Post before and after pictures!
FWIW, I'm not sure I would put that kind of money into the flooring unless I knew I was going to keep the boat or if the fiberglass had some issues. I wouldn't expect to get much of that back on resale of a 320 (I sold a 2004 280 24 months ago. Few of the upgrades I made were not financially justified.)

I had to make this decision last year, but like others I found that the cost of synthetic teak was almost 10 times that of carpet, that and the heat issues and I put new carpet throughout the cockpit last season.

The heat issue is a real thing, I have been on many boat at the boats shows here in LA and those suckers get HOT. I would probably not have done my swim step anyway as a result. I just couldn't see the ROI on the teak versus carpet, I can put new carpet in every 3 or 4 seasons for the next 20 years before I would catch up wit the cost of the teak. No payback for me.

How much would real teak cost? I understand the maintenance would be significantly greater.

Daniel as we have the exact same boat what carpet manufacturer, style did you have fitted and what was the cost of that?

Factory "built-in" platform. Went with Snap-In Carpet. Great service.
