I was introduced to this product a few months ago by a slip neighbour.
I finally tried it, and WOW! I used it on the isinglass with a soft cloth and then wiped dry with another cloth! It is amazing how clear the glass is!!!! If you don't like foggy glass, try this product!!!!!
(NOT RECOMMENDED by MANUFACTURER)

Pledge has solvents in it that will leach the plasticizers out of clear vinyl sheeting like isinglass. The same is true with Strataglass except that the Pledge will remove the scratch resistant coating. Using pledge will shorten the life of your curtains and cause them to yellow and get stiff at a much accelerated rate. Please use only the products your manufacturer recommends for your plastic panels.

I have a friend that uses the pledge (no lemon). He loves it. I told him about the solvents that will shorten the life of the isinglass, he didn't want to hear it. We are fortunate to be under covered slips so it may take longer for problems to arise, but when you weigh the cost savings of using a household cleaner against the cost of new panels, its a no brainer for me. $23 per can lasts me two seasons. Thats about $10 per year to use the right stuff.

I'd like to hear some LONG TERM results from using Pledge. I have heard that it works wonders for the here and now but I'm inclined to think that's just too good to be true. I'll stick with products designed specifically for clear plastic windows.

Now you guys have me wondering! Apparently a lot of folks swear by this stuff. It's not actually the, old school pledge, wax your mother made you wax the table with. It's supposed to be perfectly safe for all vinyl and clear plastics. It did an amazing job with no residue at all, the surface was squeaky clean. "Pledge" is a brand name and not representative of the actual cleaner.

P.S. I do own a lot of stock, I own plenty of J&J stock as well, I just liked it and thought I'd share my results.

I agree with Frank on this one. On our Four Winns we used to have, I was told the same bit of advise, that Pledge would keep the panels clear. I noticed however that after using Pledge for a few seasons, that the panels were much stiffer when trying to roll them up. Didn't see much yellowing, but that may have been due to the fact that we only installed them for bad weather.

So..What is the right stuff to use?
Before I used the Multi-Surface I would just wipe clean with a damp micro fibre cloth. This was the first time I've used a "cleaner" .

I've used both of those Meguiars products with good results. Plexus works great, as does a product I still use called Honda polish, which I used to clean every plastic thing on my motorcycle with excellent results - faring, windscreen, helmet face shield, you name it.

I used plast-x from Pep Boys for 10 years with my previous boat. Kept the glass looking as good as it could for 10 seasons. I will continue to use it with this boat.

I've used Plast-X and Plexus too, but like the Plex-all by DP (Detailers Pride) better.

Plexus it is! I like the convenience of aerosol, which is why I used the other stuff to begin with, it was just quick and easy.

We've been using the same cleaner now for about 6 years, Unger Pill and a cap of EZGlide mixed into a quart of water, total cost .85. It's safe on all surfaces, in the winter we add denatured alcohol

I use(d) Plexus. Pricey maybe. But I still have some left even after I sold the boats. It goes a long way. Pledge on the other hand does have solvents. That's why there is "no wax build up". Pledge also has silicones in it. Ask a furniture refinisher or repair guy how easy it is to repair a piece of case goods after it has been Pledged.

Ok, I just found an old thread from 2010 the covered this topic. I'm now even more convinced the pledge can stay at home. (Now I feel dumb)

Ron, they have a hurricane resistant version of that product now. You should try that instead. Is it okay to say that? Has enough time past?
