I just finished a boat move via land (trailer) and the boat was covered with grease from the trailer and other spots I assume is from diesel/mixed with water during rain.

Anyway, Grez Off worked the best for the hull removal and this cleaned up well. I assume this was because the hull was already waxed.

Top side is the problem and small stains remaining. I've tried on-off, non-skid cleaner, simple green, gas, diesel, compound with no success. :smt017 :smt017

Since you have tried several degreaser products, you may have to resort to compounding the areas that won't come clean. Something like Meguiars #45 may be aggresive enough to remove them. http://www.autogeek.net/rv-boat-polish.html

My previous 240SD was dry stored and the fiberglass would get impregnated from the Diesel Exhaust of the fork lifts. The only way I could get it clean was by using a product like the Meguiars. Nothing else would touch it.

Thanks for the advice....I'm armed with lots of cleaner products and will pick up Meguires and some Dawn on the way to the boat. I'll let you know what works best.

worse case scenario wet-sand spots with 1500 and 2000 grit sand paper and polish them

Best solution....Spray 9 degreaser with scrub brush removed 95% of the stains on the smooth surfaces but the non skid also required (after Spray 9) scrub brush and Bartenders Best Friend (like Bon Ami...fine scouring powder). This combo pulled up the stains with a little bit of work. I also tried Gunk but was a little nervous on fiberglass damage although it says it works on plastic. Gunk also required scrub brush. 1/4 of the boat is done in 3 hours or so...I got rained out the rest of the weekend.

Thanks for the input....Ed

Try some muriatic acid (HCL or Zing). That is my last resort and it usually takes stuff off that compounding leaves behind. Also Soft 'n Scrub with bleach that is left to sit in the sun can work miracles on a white gel coat in the sun. After 10 minutes, a little water and scrub brush and the stains disappear.
