In an attempt to heat up the competition between the Sony Play Station and Microsoft's X-Box 360 Sony video game designer "Satire-R-Us" announced a new action video game set in the streets of lower Manhattan and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Simple in design but brilliant in execution the game allows players to simulate financial incompetence and has been F-rated for its ability to illustrate how government officials, economists, and bank CEOs sometimes act like they have dementia.

Background:

Set in a fantasy world an insane government led by "Mr. Frank, Mrs. Pelosi, and Mr. Reed" thought every 2-legged critter with any credit score should get a 30 year loan of any amount on any house at any price with any income the borrower wants to claim at any silly unsustainable adjustable interest rate of a bank's choosing.

Known as sub-prime, a politically correct name for loans made to people who regularly don't pay their bills on time if at all, 14% of all US mortgages were issued along these guidelines. After the economy imploded banks that did not participate were in good shape and those that did were left desperately insolvent.

Play the game:

You start the game by forcing the good banks to take money they don't need conditional on terms that make it impossible for them to lend it and likely to induce their best employees who happen to earn the most money quit rather than work for 50% of what they used to earn. Good banks are turned into zombies and the economy is hobbled.

You, acting as "Sergeant Masters Paulson and Bernake" takeover the bad banks and force the good banks to buy them making all the banks insolvent. Then you get taxpayer's money from your partners in congress led by Frank, Pelosi, and Reed to replace the losses and you blame the whole thing on the good bankers you threatened to fire if they didn't play the game on your terms.

You wreck the good banks and trash their managers in public to cover up mismanagement of the bad banks and your own idiot housing policy.

In this game you are the government so you can make rules and can do anything you want. The object is to cover up your own stupidity about who should get a mortgage by blaming it all on bankers and acting like you saved the world instead of coming close to destroying it.

You win the game if you are re-elected to your seat or appointed to a better post in government. You get double points if you sit on the house or senate banking and finance committee, triple points if you are an administration appointee and are paid $millions of dollars by the banking industry, or if you go on to a highly paid career as a banking and finance industry consultant and public speaker or if your book "How to Run (over) an Economy" is a best seller.

Not to be outdone, X-Box 360 game design team "Financial Destruction Squared" announced they are working on a new game called "Total Destruction of the Global Financial System"

And the game continues......
