Has anyone had any negatives about the spray-on stuff for carpet bunks?
Does it really work and will it harm the boat gelcoat overr a period of time?

What about the plastic bunk cover replacement stuff?
Does it deform and eventually spread away from the pressure point like teflon?

Thanks for any replies!

I have the "Glide King Bunks" on my King trailer. They are really nice. I've never used the spray.

Maybe this isn't relevent to the problem, but I always fully submerge my bunks before loading so they are entirely wet, then pull back out to the proper depth for the admiral to drive up.

I second the motion on going in far enough. I go in until the back wheels on my Yukon are just touching the water. My tandom Load Rite is perfectly submerged and I literally drive the boat right to the bow stop, even at shallow ramps. Crank the cable one turn and done - It saves dragging the bottom over the bunks. I did end up installing 8' guide posts and foam pipe wrap on them, which is tight to the side of the gunwale. The boat floats until I pull forward. Always sits down nice as can be!

OK - funny story. In Marco Island, FL., I was loading the boat last March. Bow is secured, I'm in the truck watching the boat's position on the guide posts in the side mirror, as I prepare to pull forward. A guy comes screaming across the parking lot, yelling "stop!!!!" He then tells me -" Your boat is still floating". I reply - " YES, but not after I pull forward three feet". Puzzled he stood there in amazement. What else did he expect????

I think I will try the spray this year. I boat in the few places where I can't get deeper unless I back up 100 feet into the lake. A little help would be nice and power loading is hard to do with the trim up to avoid hitting the bottom.

Well, I went and got the plastic bunker pads.
I'll see how it goes this weeked when I pull my boat out.
I'm doing some adjustments to the bunkers. So, I'll be
floating my boat a couple of times.

I have to submerge the trailer to get the WE 240 close to the
Winch stop. I still wind up cranking the boat the last 12-18 inches.
I even bought a electric boat winch. Haven't installed it yet.
May not need it if the pads work out. I'll turn it into a anchor winch.

The screw heads in the pads bother me a little.
It would seem they should be recessed into the pads instead of sitting
up exposed in the pad channels.

I pulled the boat out this Sunday and the effort to get the boat that last few inches
was tough. But, not as tough as it use to be.
The plastic bunker boards did help with the loading after landing the boat.

I tried the "Damn the no-wake zone, full throttle" approach to landing
the boat on the trailer.
Now I know what a Navy pilot feels like doing a carrier landing. But, I can't do
a wave-off or a go-round. The rear window of my Suburban looked tiny at first.
It sure got big in a hurry. But, I nailed it with about 2" to go on the winchpost.
The Sunday morning docking judges gave me an overall 7 on the Budweiser scale.
Only 3 of the judges dropped their morning beer during the approach.
I envy the guy with the SkiDoo skiboat. He just motored his onto the trailer with
no muss or fuss. Difference between a 2-1/2 ton boat and a 1200 boat I guess.

ahhh the advantage of a steep ramp ;)

heh..the wife tried that 'all out' approach...once... she wanted the steerage control.. she does much better now just below wake speed. :)

I'll try it on my next trailer.
It would seem the trailer I have is pushing it for the weight of my boat.
Max load is 5000Lbs
The boat is 5200lbs with 50 gals of fuel. I dont know
how much of a fudge factor is in the max load rating on the trailer.
But, I don't want to find out the hard way that it's not much.

So you're at least 10% over.. I dunno. .I'm thinking you're insurance carrier (hevn forbid there was some sort of accident) wouldn't approve. I 'd rather be the other side of the line myself.
