Anybody have a factory installed Perfect Pass system on their 205 Sport? Was thinking of adding it and want to make it look as factory installed.

Thanks in advance!

*really interested in seeing where the display is mounted. Doesn't show up in the original wiring diagrams or service info with my boat.

Hey there; I am an authorized dealer for PerfectPass (RedStar Boating, Baltimore MD). I installed one on my 185 b/c everybody would have a great day on the water except for me. When it came time for my turn, even some of the most experienced folks can never really give a good pull. After the install I thought it was so awesome I became a dealer!

It is easy to install - by myself it took 1.5 - 2 hours. The power is pulled from the back of the tach, the RPMs are pulled from the back of the tach, the GPS mounts under your console (no drilling) with double sided tape. There is a single cable that goes from the 'brain' to the engine compartment. This hooks into the servo that controls the throttle. This servo is mounted by loosening the hose clamps on the exhaust outlet of the riser, inserting the prefabricated bracket and tightening the hose clamps back down. The gauge replaces your speedo.

It is cake to install and the best part is that it even made a difference when someone experienced in throttle control was at the helm b/c it is is very sensitive to speed changes and is automatically working ahead of human response times.

PM me with your boat information if you are interested in a quote. I am the cheapest authorized dealer out there.

Josh, forgive me as I ask this purely for informative purposes/curosity. How does perfect pass pull information from a Smartcraft equipped boat for RPM Data from the TACH? Is perfect Pass capabale of translating Smartcraft data and in effect act as a System Link gauge of sorts?

Thanks,

Jason

The simple answer is, PerfectPass needs a raw RPM signal and does not share anything with the SmartCraft system. The RPM and speed show up in the PerfectPass gauge. PerfectPass attaches to the tach posts for two reasons 1) that is the source of the PerfectPass' power so no additional power needs to be run for the install 2) pulls raw RPM data from the tach.

The GPS antenna is a small antenna the size of a half-dollar coin and can mount under the console and achieve an excellent signal shooting through vs mounting it exposed.

So on a boat with a Smartcraft Gauge set, would a separate cable need to be run to the engine for RPM info since the Smartcraft gauge is just displaying Smartcraft Data from the ECM/PCM Rather than a "RAW" RPM signal? Thanks Josh!

For DTS from what i understand, you need to run a wire to the engine and get the raw RPM signal (in engine compartment harness). I think by the time the RPM signal gets to the tachometer it's no longer a pure RPM signal. You might be able to find a raw RPM signal behind the dash somewhere but i'm not exactly sure about wiring on all boats. It might be worth a call to their tech department if you were thinking about putting it on your boat.

This thread has been quiet for a little while, but I'm thinking of putting a perfect pass in my 2010 205 and would be curious to see a picture of the factory dash placement......

PerfectPass drops into the 3.5" hole where your current speedometer is located. The display you should order is the 3.5" white display with chrome trim ring shown at the top of the page of display units....here: http://www.discountperfectpass.com/6.html

It matches quite well. It shows you speed and RPM while engaged for watersports and when the unit is turned off as well.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

If it were factory installed would it have Sea Ray logos on it? It is an available option from new.
