I have had a couple of requests to see the Swim Platforms, Inc. platform we added to our '89 340 DA. The old platform was 22" from transom to back edge. The new one is 39". The difference is amazing and we get comments and questions everywhere we go. I have added the pics to our photobucket album. Click to view. http://s269.photobucket.com/albums/jj76/NorCalBoater/

Some day someone is going to have to post directions to resize a picture to post without have to do the photobucket thing.

I do. Lots of them. However, they are in a computer with a dead hard drive. I have to get off my a** and take the drive somewhere to recover all my old pics.

My marina neighbor has an '85 340 Sedan Bridge with the original platform. It is identical to the platform that I had. I will take a picture of his this weekend and post it.

Nice, that new platform looks great!

Looks like you've done a lot of upgrading, very nice looking boat.

Thank you. We have spent a lot of time trying to tone down all the pink that Sea Ray seemed to be so fond of in the 80's. We really love this boat and the big beam (11' 11") on this boat really makes for a spacious cabin and cockpit. But as you know, it is a continuing work in progress.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Quick question, What are the circle cutouts in the platform for?

Quick question, What are the circle cutouts in the platform for?

There was a thread recently debating that question and there were many theories. To be sure, I asked the owner of Swim Platforms, Inc. They are vents. When at anchor or tied to a dock and there is wake action, the wake will come up through the vent rather than pound the bottom of the platform. In that situation be sure you are not looking down at the vent when a large wake comes your way.

That looks really nice
You have that thing spruced up pretty cool
Nice work
You have enough vents there to grate a pretty good size block of cheese.

Went to your site and grabbeed the links with an img tag around it.

I don't know about grating cheese but that platform is where I get sent if the cheese has been cut.

Really nice-updates the boat tremendously.
I thought about it for my 390 but I'm concerned the extra depth would really interfere with fishing; more so than the shallower platform.
How easy was the installation?

Thanks. I do not fish so I am not sure what to tell you. I do know that the serrious canyon runners do not have any platforms.

There are several pictures of a 390EC on the Swim Platforms site. http://www.swimplatforms.com/390_sundancer.html

The installation was not particularly difficult. The platform will pretty much only go on one way. However, the boat has to come out of the water and the size of the one for your boat really dictates the use of a forklift. On mine, we used a forklift to place it on 3 prepared jack stands and then gradually brought it to the correct spot. At this point you have to do some careful measuring to make sure you do not drill through the transom and into a battery charger or something.

I had mine installed by Delta Boat Works here in the Sacramento River Delta. Delta has installed about 20 of these so they had the experience. The cost was $1500 including the haul out. It was money well spent but if it had been smaller I would have done it myself.
