#1 I just pulled a 5.0 w a cracked block(not winterized), rebuilt a nice 5.0 out of a van, but reused heads, intake, etc... Problem is a bad rumbling vibration when you crank it or start it, causes the outdrive to jump around a bit. This is the first inboard I've ever replaced, any insight would be appreciated
#2 Interesting. you would have had to remove the outdrive to replace the motor. most would test run the motor before install a drive, just in case.
Installing the drive and now having a noise could indicate a drive issue.
#1 I unbolted the engine and lifted it out, I didn't pull the outdrive, should I have? It slid back together good.
#2 your engine alignment is off, and your destroying the coupler
