Photos From Yacht Expo

Great shots...thanks for sharing....

In another thread here about the Zeus drives, folks were talking about the drives being installed in the "pockets"....the pics here, at least from the angle in the shots, look like the hull does NOT have prop pockets...

No it appears that the many that they were building during this particular week did not have prop pockets and had hulls that looked like they were designed for the units. Although we did not demo the boats and did not speak to the merc folks about the drives as that is not available on the boat we bought. Who knows? If you look at the boats in production it looks like they were designed for the units and have a separate mold?

Looks like the flash virus facilitator is required to view the photos. Too bad. I've had it with bad software and have been quite happy since removing flash. That web pages download faster, perform better, and I get no more animated advertisements just ices the cake.

Best regards,
Frank

?HUH? Bummer! I didn't get any ads at all? I guess I did something wrong. All I got were pictures on Photobucket of the build. Robbed again!

Thanks Flettis, I can view them just fine. I'm glad I have the "flash virus facilitator". Seeing those pictures gives a better understanding as to why boats are so darn expensive.

What is crazy is the speed that they build such complex boats... Merritt Island cranks out (at today's numbers in today's market) 6 boats a week during a four day work week. I takes a week to build a 38DA and the 40DA. Takes almost two and a half to build a 36DB. The tour was amazing, it really is incredible to see how it comes together from the molds for the hull and deck all the way to the woodshop where raw wood is cut into every shape needed and stored in bulk sections by each piece for assembly, coating, finish work for each module...then how each module fits together before the top deck goes on. Really cool stuff.

Neat pictures. I'm surprised they let you take them. We could not take pictures at the Knoxville plant.

PS: Frank just remove the /?albumview=slideshow from the link if you don't want to load the flash to your system.

Nice slideshow. We visited the Tiara plant while ours was being built and were treated like VIP's. We were able to climb all over the boats on the line and take photo's to our hearts content. Seems like SR has a similiar policy. I really does show how much hand labor goes into these things

Flettis,
I think u got ur numbers wrong on the build time. From the time my mold went into frabrication it was 3 weeks. I got pictures from day one .... she shipped on the third week.

Rob

Build time was not for the 44 as it is built at Sykes Creek, build time of a week was for the 38 DA and 40 DA Sport Yachts at Merritt Island. The 44 and larger Sport Yachts probably take longer....just a guess.
