We enjoy spending our nights on the hook, but need to find a way to avoid that darn dinghy ride to shore at midnight for our Golden Retriever to do her business. After 4 or 5 chocolate martinis this nightly ritual can be quite a challenge. :smt101

Does this thingy actually work? Or is there a better solution as I haven’t been able to train her to use the head. It looks like it would fit on the swim platform.

Not sure what size dogs you have but I'm willing to bet that my two pugs would not use the bathroom on-board even if the whole boat was artificial turf

Here are my two; one is a full blood pug and the other is a pug/chihuahua cross.

Mike,
Great idea - cover the entire swim platform with turf! (Brilliant) :smt038 Now why didn't I think of that. :smt017

My Golden has an iron bladder and could probably hold it for 24 hours. I don't have a cruiser, so I never overnight it, but at home he never goes in the middle of the night. Even in the morning he doesn't whine at the door to go out. Unfortunately by the time I get a cruiser, he will probably start having bladder problems.

We switched her to the martinis because the beer when right through.

If you can newspaper train a dog, I do not see why this would not work. I wouldn't want it inside the boat though, only on the swim platform. The problem with my Springer Spaniel would be before she took the time to do her business she would jump into the water and I would have a wet dog! Now, if you could only rig a pump from the pup-head to the holding tank you'd have something. I noticed the web site didn't mention emptying the pup-head. :smt017

Have there been any issues, problems, complaints, etc. regarding dogs and dog owners in your marinas?

First mate after a hard day.
