Anyone have a pet (dog) boarding ramp they would recommend? I'm not on a floating dock and the tide varies 3-5'. It would be nice to find something lightweight that either collapses (or folds) and is easy to stow away. I've seen a few things online but they're typically 4-5' long. This is to get the dogs to walk from the dock to the boat -- not something I need to get them back into the boat. Thanks.

Mike, we have a 30lb Corgi and got tired of picking him up every time to get on and off the boat. I made a ramp from a scrap end of some oak veneer 3/4 inch plywood I had left over from a remodeling project. I covered the top in some indoor/outdoor carpet and wrapped both ends in that rubber shelve liner stuff to keep it from sliding off the boat and dock. I'm 210 lbs plus whatever I'm carrying and it has broken yet.....

PS: I stow it in the dinghy while underway.....

Thanks, there's a (cheaper) thought. Does it fold or hinge? How long is it? I don't have a dinghy so I need someone to keep the thing, presumably I could toss it down in the engine room or find someway to secure it. Ours is a 30 lb jack russell, but we've recently inherited a 80 lb golden doodle as well.

p.s. Did you build edges on it or just leave flat and cover it?

Mike, I think it's around 3 1/2 feet long & maybe 18 inches wide.... It can be shoved under the seat on the aft deck too.
I covered it in carpet and it has no edges but that is a thought to dress it up little, make it a little safer and stiffer....
