I put my bilge heater in today and did my annual stainer cleaning too. I need a few new gaskets for the strainer cover on top of my #5 and #7 strainers but cannot find it anywhere online or else.

I don't want to buy full rubber gasket sets (found those online) and I don't want to get cork cover gaskets (found those online individually sold online).

Can anyone point me to where I can buy these??

I know with Groco - I just call them directly - they are $2 a piece.

I needed to replace one of mine and didn't feel like trying to find the exact replacement, so I went to Auto Zone and picked up a sheet of cork gasket material.
Now I'm set for life.

But those are automotive and not "marine"...... OMG :wow:

I didn't know Auto Zone had a Sea Ray marine section.:wow:

I would have to agree with Bill Collector..+1:thumbsup:

Im guessing no one knows that autozone sells rubber gasket material also.

There is a significant difference in the Groco and Perko gaskets. Groco uses a common o-ring; the Perko rubber gasket is a soft rubber gasket that is about 1/2" wide.

What I am saying is that the comparison between the 2 isn't valid. A simple o-ring costs less and is more readily available than a specialized rubber gasket with a single application.

From experience, I can tell you the cork Perko gasket has a very short life. When you tighten the lid on the cork gasket enough to compress it, it stays compressed and will soon leak. The rubber gasket has no memory and regains its original shape no matter how many times you over tighten it. Mine are almost 15 years old and they still don't leak. Knowing the rubber Perko gasket isn't going to leak and isn't likely to cause an extremely wet bilge with no notice may be worth $30.

Yep....

I saw that they are selling the cork ones and I thought I'd pass on those for the reasons you mentioned. I had a feeling they wouldn't last. My rubber gaskets are still sealing well, but I thought I'd be proactive and put in fresh ones. As far as I know, mine have been sealing for about 20 years. Though, I just thought it was a bit crazy to spend $60-$70 on two 3.5" rubber gaskets. I don't begrudge anyone making a profit it just seems like maybe a $10 item. So I thought some of the CSR group here might have found a replacement "solution"..... To your point, not having a leak is probably worth a lot more...That said, I'm not paying $30 for hose clamps and they could save me from even more headache....

I bought a neoprene gasket square for making your own gaskets and cut mine out. Much cheaper and handy to have those sheets on the boat for the future. I bought several. Some pure neoprene and other ones that are cork/neoprene. Not this but very similar pack at a local auto parts store.https://www.amazon.com/Fel-Pro-3060...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=MDEK8C637AGAGZ1D6ASC
