I have a couple of Wyze cams and connected them to my Peplink Max BR1 Mk2 router. Anyone else having problems with the cams frequently disconnecting from the router?

It does not seem to be a power issue with the cams. They are on separate circuits and are using the Wyze cables. Connected to a USB outlet. Waze cam firmware is current. They regularly both disconnect from the router. I can remotely reboot the router and the cams automatically reconnect for a while. I recently updated the router firmware to the latest with no improvement.

Reach out to Wyze tech support, they were very responsive to questions I had last year.

Occasionally I'll be unable to pull the live feed of the cameras up, but turning them off / on again seems to do the trick.

I have the exact same setup as you and it has has been bullet proof. The only difference is I power my wyze cam via the AC power brick I'm pretty sure came with the csmeras.

I have not had the wyze cam disconnect ever, except if I lose AC power. At the boat...very rare.

Maybe try a AC power and see if it's something to do with your DC power. I know when charging, my voltage is about 14.2, and that may cause the Wyze cam to disconnect?

Well, that was a no-go. Plugged one camera in to AC power with the Wyze plug and left one on a USB plug. Both have disconnected again. Seems like the common denominator is the router.

I did a little googling and found some similar complaints on the Peplink community, but no resolutions. I guess I'll have to call Wyze and/or Peplink. Or, maybe MobileMustHave may have run into this as well.

Update.

Contacted MobileMustHave support (the vendor where I got the router). Since my router is on their tenant of PepLink InControl, they were able to review all my settings.

It looks like the cameras were getting confused by the SSID names. They only work on 2.4 gHz. Although I had separate names for the 2.4 gHz and 5 gHz channels, MMH created a new SSID adding "2.4" ad the end. This seems to have stabilized things, and the cameras have now been continuously online for several days. Prior to this the cams were only only for perhaps a few hours at a time.

Are the cameras disconnecting at the same time everyday? There is a setting in the AP setup that I believe looks for a less congested channel and selects it for use. It can be set to run this scan at specific times, but also you can delay it if anything is still connected (like a Wyze cam).

Check this page..

No, it seemed to happen at random times throughout the day. I checked that page and it had the wait till not client active box checked.

Looking more closely at this page, I think I see the problem. The cameras connected to the Jennifer B network, which was set to support both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz. I'd bet there was something about one SSID and 2 frequencies that confused the cameras. With a dedicated 2.4 ghz network the camera connection is now steady. The Jennifer B 5 ghz network is there to support any on-board devices that may need some higher speed transmission but don't move (like a Roku).

Mine are connected to Cara Mia which is a dual 2.4/5 GHz SSID. Hmmmm.
