Patching fiberglass holes

I helped my friend installing arch, he accidentally drill a hole that are 2" higher, so now he has a hole on side of the boat. How to patch it up? I'm a cabinetmaker and with wood, i would patch it up with wood putty, sometimes bono.. But with boat fiberglass, how would you patch it up? the hole is approx i guess, 5/8" diameter. Thanks!

White MarineTex. Get it at the boat store. A white two-part epoxy that will fill in the hole.

You will not get a perfect repair with this, that would take gel coat, sanding and buffing.
